REMEMBER WHEN A HOLIDAY WAS A REAL ADVENTURE

A true outback city in every sense, Broken Hill region is a living, breathing time capsule where the great mining prosperity of yesteryear blends seamlessly with a rising modern art scene, all set amid a sprawling desert landscape. It’s a place of huge skies, red rocky earth and a fascinating  and internationally significant history. It is, after all, Australia’s first heritage-listed city, and its secrets are just waiting to be discovered.

Tri State Safaris offers local insight into a large range of popular travel destinations from Broken Hill, which can be directly and easily accessed by flight or train out of Sydney, Melbourne, Mildura and Adelaide into Broken Hill. All of our tours are mapped out in a way that allows the international traveller to see as much of the Australian Outback as possible. We cover many popular travel destinations across 5 Australian states.

We truly believe that Outback Australia, as seen through the Tri State Safari experiences, has much to offer international travellers and our team are excited  to show it off!

I've always wanted to visit Mutawintji and decided to do a tour with Tri-State Safari's, the area is so precious, however, i highly recommend the tour, as you can't go to the sacred sites without it. The knowledge and dedication of the staff at Tri State is fantastic and the views of the special Aboriginal artwork that has seen centuries is just amazing! I love landscape photography and there are plenty of photo opportunities and the flora and fauna is beautiful. There is no fee to go to Mutawintji, however depending on the tour you choose with Tri - State, your fee varies and can include morning tea and lunch. Tri- State are based in Broken Hill. This visit was a couple of years ago.

Thank you Geoff Spangler and Tri State Safaris for a fascinating trip to Mutawintji National Park. Even in the grip of drought this place has a special resonance.

We joined a safari to visit Mutwintji National Park last year and overall it was an amazing experience travelling through stunning outback terrain and seeing ancient rock art. We had a very knowledgeable local guide (may have been Geoff?) who was accredited by the Aboriginal community to provide tours in Mutawintji. We were picked up from our Broken Hill hotel for this full day outing. On reflection though I was kicking myself that I hadn't asked whether the business had an indigenous guide. I feel this would have contributed to a more authentic experience and would have been a proactive way to support and respect the Aboriginal community.

We were fortunate to have the guide to ourselves - I’m sure this wouldn’t always happen. He was very informative and knowledgeable about the Indigenous and European history. The walking and minimal steps suited my moderate strength and the guide was respectful of my limitations. We would recommend this tour to anyone with interest in indigenous rock art - colour and engraving.

Clark was the most perfect guide, oozing knowledge and information on pretty much everything! Fascinating history of mining, the local area and the natural history as well as indigenous culture and beliefs. Beautiful sites, amazing rock art, glorious walks...the perfect day out!
