Tri State Wins at Australian Tourism Awards for the second year running

For the second year in a row Tri State Safaris have taken out one of the Australian Tourism industry's most coveted awards. At a gala event held at the National Convention Centre in Canberra, Tri State Safaris were named as the Winner of the Adventure Tourism category in the 2007 Australian Tourism Awards. For the second year in a row Tri State Safaris received the coveted award, this time in the ‘Adventure Tourism’ category. Previously they received the top award in the ‘Tour and Transport Operator’ category. Finalists for the Australian Tourism Awards are ?made up from the winners in each category from the respective State Awards and Tri ?State Safaris represented NSW in the ‘ Adventure Tourism’ category.

The awards process is highly competitive, with entrants judged against a number of criteria in a thirty page written submission, which is followed by a site visit by a member of the judging panel. “We are absolutely thrilled with the win, we have been judged the best of the best” said owner Michael McCulkin. “We had some very formidable competition in our category including North Star Cruises from WA, so that makes the win even sweeter”. Traditionally awards go to major operations on the coast but according to Michael McCulkin Tri State Safaris has changed all that. “We have won a number of awards over the last couple of years and each time we do Broken Hill gets recognition far and wide, and we are very proud of that.

The tourism industry, and the marketplace now know that they can find world class tourism product with us right here in Broken Hill. It’s indeed a proud moment”.
