Climb aboard our fully equiped 4WD vehicle, as we head to Mutawintji National Park for our first day of touring. Learn the dreamtime story of Kullawarra and the Indigenous heritage of Mutawintji National Park. Be amazed at the hand stencils and rock engravings, providing a unique insight into the life and culture of the Australian aboriginal people.
Wander through the famous art galleries of Broken Hill and visit the Big Picture and the Line of Lode, before heading to Silverton (almost a ghost town), the home of movies such as ‘Mad Max 2’ and ‘A Town Like Alice’. Marvel at the vast expanse of Mundi Mundi plains, and be inspired by the spectacular views from the Sculpture Symposium.
Travel through Kinchega National Park as we visit the historic Woolshed, then follow the Darling River as it winds through massive stands of Red River Gums to Menindee township. The first Europeans to visit the area followed the Darling River in search of pasture for their sheep. Menindee was once a thriving river port and the area is rich in the history of our early explorers. Burke and Wills and Charles Sturts’ exploration parties both spent time camped at Kinchega.
